1959. 2 covers and 1 picture postcard featuring 1959 “coin” issues. The The postcard is a pre-printed bbott/Pentothal advertisement sent to Los Angeles in 1960 with a 1 escudo value (CE 513). Both covers are addressed to the same Hollywood address as above. Coin stamps noted include CE 506, 508, 512, and 518.

1960. A small domestic cover to Ponda bearing on the reverse 2 of the 10 centavos on 3 reis 1959 surcharged issues (CE 483). Both stamps are tied with an octagonal Margao airmail cancel with a Ponda CDS

A folded insurance policy document from Margao to Sanquelim franked with a 30 centavos “coin” issue (CE 508). The stamp is folded around the side of the document to seal it shut. The stamp is damaged but the document appears unopened. 2 very light cancels on the front. Water stained.

Inbound green “Inland Letter” postal stationary sheet from India. 10 n.p. value. Postmarked from Dharwar to Ponda with a CDS of each. Large black circled “T” (24 cm diameter) for postage due. Unusual.

An unaddressed cover on a commercial envelope franked with a 10 centavos “coin” stamp (CE 506). A black Handstamp advertises the first TAP flight from Portugal to India on the 8 th of July 1961. The stamp is tied with a Goa CDS with the same date.

An unaddressed combination cover with a 30 centavos “coin” issue (CE 508) and a 1 n.p. Union of India “map” stamp (Stanley Gibbons #375). Both stamps are tied by a clear Goa CDS of 25/12/61.

1961-62. A selection of 7 unaddressed combination covers with cancels dated after the annexation of Goa by the Union of India. 5 covers are post marked on Christmas Day 1961, 1 is postmarked Jan 1 st 1962, and 1 is post marked on Jan. 4 th 1962, the official last day of dual franking. The Indian stamps used include SG 383, 397, 407, 426, 437, and 449. The Portuguese India stamps include a number of “coin” issues and the 1959 surcharged issues.

An unaddressed combination cover with an 80 centavos on 3 tangas surcharged issue (CE 477) and a Union of India “All India Radio” issue of 1961 (Stanley Gibbons #440). Both stamps are tied with a clear Goa cancel for 1/1/62.

An airmail letter sheet from Shibuya Japan to Mapuca Goa. Addressed to Brother Hyacinth. Clear Shibuya (Tokyo) CDS on the front and Mapuca arrival CDS on the reverse. Perfect condition.

A cover from Karachi to Parra , Bardez Goa. The envelope is KLM (Dutch Airlines) airmail stationary and is franked with a Pakistan 3 annas (SG 56). Karachi CDS and very light indecipherable PI CDS.

Same value as lot 202, but on unlined paper. Monarchic crest with “SUPPRIMENTO DE 20 REIS” to the right of the original value. The surcharge is identical to that found on Dom Luis postal stationary (Higgins and Gage #6).

1880s (?) A large fragment of a hand written document on watermarked paper with an imperforate 60 reis fiscal (BC 6) on the front and back.

1899. One small fragment with a 200 reis fiscal of 1879 (BC 9) and an overprinted 10 reis on 1 tanga Carlos Neto with an additional “Contribucao Industrial” overprint (BC CI 14). Manuscript tied. Scarce.

One small fragment with a 2, 5, and 10 reis of the second Industrial set of fiscals (BC CI 38, 39, and 40).

An unused block of 25 of the 2 reis value of the second Industrial set. (BC CI 38) No gum. Toned with tone spots.

1911. A matriculation document with 3 of the 5 reis fiscals (BC CI 39), one on the back. There are also 2 unlisted fiscals with “Fundo Escolar” diagonally overprinted in red: values of 2000 reis and 100 reis (BC 43 and 33). All tied.

A receipt from the Office of the District of Sanguem bearing a 10 reis fiscal (BC 26).

A matriculation record, on approximately ¼ of the total sheet, with a 5 reis fiscal (BC, CI 39) on the front and back.

A large fragment with 26 fiscals: 20 with a black horizontal “Fundo Escolar overprint and 6 red CI fiscals in 2 values. 7 “Fundo Escolar” overprints are on the 100 reis of 1905 with a Lisbon Republica overprint (BC 59) but unlisted with the FE overprint. The remainder are high value fiscals from the 1917 set (BC 153 and 155) but uncatalogued with FE overprint. 2 have partial FE overprints. Striking.

A large watermarked document with 6 fiscals: a pair of 1,09 (BC CI 97), a pair of 10,97 (unlisted ), one 4:06 on 4:06,86, (BC 178) and one 7:00 on 2:04:06,86 (unlisted, but appear to be part of the 1926 set).

1942. A one page document from the “Conservatoria do Registo Civil de Margao” with 5 fiscals along the bottom: 1,09 (BC CI 92 x3), 2,74 (BC CI 93) and 7 tangas (BC 204) from the 1941 issue. Insect damage.

1942. Identical to lot 225, but with the fiscal stamps on the reverse. Significant damage along the bottom, partially affecting stamps.

Identical document to lot #226. Bearing 2 fiscals from 1941: 3 and 9 tangas (BC 202 and 205).

A municipal document from Ponda bearing a strip of 3 of the 4 tangas from the 1940 set (BC 203).

A business licence issued by the “ADMINISTRACAO DO CONCELHO DE CANACONA” bearing a pair of the 2 rupias (BC 208), a 1 rupia (BC 207), a 2 tangas and a 6 reis (BC 201 and 199) all from the 1941 set.

Six page bound and hole punched document registering a company in Brighton England and appointing a company representative with powers of attorney in Mormugao Goa. Ribbon and red seals still intact and the document is written entirely in English. 2 PI fiscals on the first page with a combined value of 1 rupia and 6 reis (BC 207 and 199). The back of the first page has 6 Portuguese fiscals with a combined value of 150$50 escudos. 13 more PI fiscals spread out over 2 pages including a pair of 20 rupias (BC 213). The bottom centimetre of the first page is badly worn.

1956. Military registration certificate for 1956. The individual’s name is recorded and the bottom half retained by him. The fiscal is deliberately halved and overprinted “TAXA MILITAR” in red, but only a fraction of the overprint remains. The base stamp appears to be BC 203 or 204.

A 3 page insurance policy document for a 1953 Ford truck. The policy was provided by “The British India General Insurance Company” of Bombay to insure a commercial vehicle. There are 2 PI fiscals: 1 rupia and 9 tangas (BC 207 and 205).

One draughtsman’s planning document for sidewalk construction in Ponda. The document bears a 9 tangas (damaged) and a 3 tangas (BC 205 and 202). There is also a fold crease and holes caused by disintegration.

One draughtsman’s planning document for extending a veranda of a house in Ponda. Same fiscal stamps and condition as the previous lot.

A notarised document from the Municipal Council of Ponda for the construction of a small building with 4 fiscals on the front: a pair of 4 escudos and a pair of 50 centavos (BC 227 and 221 one badly damaged) . On the back another 50 centavos and a 70 centavos on 2 tangas (BC 246).

2 mint never hinged blocks of 12 with the original glassine on the back overprinted by the Union of India government after annexation in 1961. 8 n. p 50 centavos (BC base stamp 221) and 50 n.p. on 3 escudos (BC base stamp 226).
